Derek shoots under the name Alois Perspektiv — an homage to Alois, the grandfather he never met, whose Bohemian footsteps he has spent the last ten years following from Prague.
Originally from New York City, Derek has always been curious about the world around him. That's led him and his camera on 1000km bike rides from Dresden to Vienna, shooting underground music festivals in Germany, documenting blind soccer matches in the Czech Republic, supporting international journalism film festivals, and founding Prague's first digital art gallery.
